The Center for Healthy Living was officially opened on Oct. 16, 2013 and provides:<\/p>\n<p>    * diabetic management<br \/>\n    * cooking classes<br \/>\n    * tobacco cessation programs<br \/>\n    * nutrition counseling<br \/>\n    * access to WIC<br \/>\n    * immunization services<br \/>\n <!--more--><br \/>\n    * health coaching<br \/>\n    * education campaigns<br \/>\n    * navigations services<br \/>\n    * mobile mammograms<br \/>\n    * vaccination clinics and<br \/>\n    * blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, weight and BMI screenings.  <\/p>\n<p>The Center has served 312 people from the time it opened through the end of February. However, many of those individuals come to the Center weekly. Of the patients screened at the clinic, 80.5 percent were clinically overweight or obese and 65 percent were uninsured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great time to recognize this partnership between the City of Tyler and NET Health considering that April 7-13 is National Public Health week,\u201d said Mayor Barbara Bass. \u201cThis facility offers wonderful classes and screening to help prevent chronic illnesses in the population as well as to detect and manage the diseases for those already affected.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TYLER &#8212; The Tyler City Council Wednesday received a report from the Northeast Texas Public Health District (NET Health) on the operation of the Center for Healthy Living located at 2815 Frankston Highway.
