Longview-area residents are encouraged to give their input through an online survey and a special Comprehensive Plan community event from 5:30 \u2013 7:00 p.m. February 10 at the LeTourneau University Belcher Center, 2100 Mobberly Ave. The event will include several future-planning activities and interactive discussions on a variety of community topics. Hors d\u2019oeuvres will be served. Meeting participants will receive a free ticket to the East Texas Symphonic Band\u2019s Grand Winter Celebration Concert that evening at 7:30 p.m.  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>The Longview Comprehensive Plan is a long-term planning effort which officials say will serve as the city\u2019s guiding document for growth and development for years to come. The effort will incorporate topics such as parks, land use, transportation, utilities, development standards, population projections, economic development, and public safety. The City Council has appointed a task force of members from throughout the Longview area to lead the process as the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. Keith Honey is serving as chair of the committee.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mayor Jay Dean, \u201cThis is an incredibly important process because we are asking residents to tell us what they would like their community to be in 20 years. Together we can accomplish amazing things, but we need to hear from residents to know what they view as issues and opportunities in Longview.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the survey and February 10 event, residents can get involved by hosting discussions in their organizations or neighborhoods.
