He is identified as William Brown, 58, of Longview. According to the Longview News-Journal, Brown was arrested by Longview police December 14 and charged with theft. Prior convictions on that charge elevated the misdemeanor charge to a felony.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The charge was dismissed Monday, the sheriff said, adding he discussed the case with the district attorney\u2019s office after Brown was hospitalized. \u201cThe case was reviewed, and based on his situation the case was either dismissed or refused,\u201d Cerliano said. \u201cHe has now been released (from custody). He is under care at the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s family members said no one at the jail had told them the man was taken to the hospital. Cerliano issued a statement Thursday saying his staff has been in contact with Brown\u2019s family during this and other jail stays Brown has undergone since May.
