KETK and the Longview News-Journal report that police said Hasler was taken to the Marshall Police Department for further investigation after the 2 a.m. shooting.  The gunfire occurred outside Charlie\u2019s BackYard Bar in the 300 block of North Columbus Street, police said. The victim, 20-year-old Trey Austin Rogers, was listed in critical condition Monday evening at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, a hospital spokesman said.   <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>Hasler was off-duty at the time of the shooting, according to the Harrison County District Attorney\u2019s Office.  But according to Lt. Jay Webb of the Harrison County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Hasler resigned Friday.   \u201cHis resignation was for personal reasons,\u201d Webb said in an email.   Webb did not say whether Hasler\u2019s resignation was effective immediately or if he was still a member of the sheriff\u2019s office when the shooting occurred.  <\/p>\n<p>Police have not said what led to the shooting.  \u201cThe Texas Rangers are involved,\u201d said Marshall police spokeswoman Sonya Johnson. \u201cAs of right now we don\u2019t have any specifics.\u201d  Harrison County Sheriff\u2019s Department released a statement Monday morning saying, \u201cdue to a Harrison County Sheriff\u2019s Office Deputy being involved in the incident that has occurred,\u201d further information would have to come from the Texas Rangers, who along with Marshall police and special investigators with the Harrison County District Attorney\u2019s Office, are investigating the shooting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MARSHALL &#8212; Harrison County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy Matthew Hasler, 32, was identified Monday as the suspected gunman in a Sunday shooting, according to the Marshall Police Department.
