Small business owner and community volunteer Eleno Licea (at right in picture) announced his candidacy Tuesday. Licea has volunteered with Bethesda Health Clinic, the Hispanic Business Alliance, the Boy Scouts, and other groups. Along with his nonprofit work, he\u2019s served on the city\u2019s planning and zoning commission and recently completed a term on the Tyler ISD board. Regarding his school board duties, Licea says, \u201cMy service as trustee allowed me to see things from the perspective of our students, parents, teachers and administrators and gave me good insight into our local government agencies.\u201d So far, Licea faces oil and gas professional Don Warren in the May election.
