That\u2019s according to KETK and the Longview News-Journal. The body of Jack E. Pierce, 45, was found August 26 by deputies who answered a check welfare call, said Sheriff\u2019s Lt. Freddie Fitzgerald in a statement released Tuesday. The body was found inside a residence in the southwest part of the county, Fitzgerald wrote. \u201cDeputies found things at the scene to be suspicious,\u201d Fitzgerald wrote, adding the case is being investigated as a homicide.  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>Pierce was pronounced dead by Upshur County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Laura Norred, who ordered an autopsy. Norred declined to comment on the case Tuesday.
