UPSHUR COUNTY — Firefighters finally contained a 60-acre forest fire in Upshur County Thursday. The blaze broke out around 2 in the afternoon Thursday, near Flamingo Road, just off Highway 300. Upshur County firefighters say a hot spot from a last week, rekindled, sparking Thursday’s fire. Around 25 firefighters, including those from Upshur County and the Texas A&M Forest Service, battled the blaze throughout the day. Firefighters tell KETK no one was hurt and no homes have been damaged. The Texas A&M Forest Service cleared the scene, but firefighters headed back to the scene Friday.
