The public signing ceremony will take place at A&M-Commerce’s Rockwall facility, 2610 Observation Trail in Rockwall at 11:00am on July 2nd. Jones, “Ralph Hall is a Texas legend, a man who has devoted his life to public service. His papers comprise a veritable treasure trove of local, state, and national political life for the last six decades, and will be an invaluable resource to students and scholars everywhere,” said President Jones. “We are proud that he has chosen to entrust them to Texas A&M University-Commerce.” <\/p>\n
“We have been working with Mr. Hall and his staff for many years to make this donation possible, said Andrea Weddle, Head of Special Collections and Archives. We currently have 62 boxes at the Gee Library and have made plans to continue working with his staff to coordinate the transfer of additional boxes from DC, as well as the regional and campaign offices. Mr. Hall’s collection contains a wealth of information about national politics, and the Texas 4th Congressional District, which will, no doubt, draw researchers from around the country to Commerce.” <\/p>\n
Congressman Hall, whose district at one time included Smith County, was first elected to congress in 1980. Not only is he the dean of the Texas delegation, he is the oldest serving member of congress.
