It happened Tuesday at a news conference at the Smith County Emergency Operations Center on Spur 248.  The vehicles had been in use by the DA\u2019s office and are being put back on the road for use in the Criminal Investigation and Patrol Divisions of the Sheriff\u2019s Office.  \u201cThese vehicles have served the DA\u2019s office well and still have a lot of life in them, so I am happy that Sheriff Smith has accepted our offer to continue using them to help prevent and solve crimes,\u201d said Matt Bingham.  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTax dollars are tight and we very much appreciate the addition of these seven vehicles to our fleet,\u201d said Sheriff Smith. \u201cWhen I took office, one of my goals was to bring in new and additional vehicles for our detectives and deputies. This donation helps achieve that goal and it does that without spending any additional taxpayer dollars.
