PALESTINE \u2014 An East Texas man allegedly shot himself while buying a handgun. According to KETK, Edgar Torres, 31, of Palestine arrived at the Palestine Regional Medical Center at 9:00 Wednesday evening with a gunshot wound on his right side. While talking to Torres, police learned that he had been in the 400 block of Cherokee St. in Green\u2019s Park looking at a gun that he was planning to buy. Torres said that the gun accidentally discharged and hit him in the side. He did not give the name of anyone else who was there at the time of the incident. Police went to Green\u2019s Park to investigate but found no evidence of a shooting in the area. Torres is in stable condition at the hospital, and is expected to recover.
