TYLER \u2014 More and more cases of parvo are being reported right now in East Texas. The folks at Animal Medical Center of Tyler tell KETK they are seeing several cases a week. Parvo is a virus that attacks a dog\u2019s body, specifically the intestines, and it can be deadly. Dr. Laura Cauthen says it can affect canines of every age, especially if they\u2019re not vaccinated. And, she says, it spreads quickly.<\/p>\n
Dr. Cauthen says, \u201cIt is something that\u2019s easily prevented with vaccination, but it isn\u2019t just one shot. A lot of people think it\u2019s just one shot and they\u2019re protected. It\u2019s usually a series of 3 to 4, depending on the age of the puppy once they start the vaccine.\u201d Symptoms include lack of appetite, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea.
