Bond is $32,500 for Sims, who didn&#8217;t immediately have an attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Greg Taylor told the Tyler Morning Telegraph that alcohol may have been involved Sunday. Sims allegedly beat his wife and fired a gun into the air. Further details on the woman weren&#8217;t immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark says the lieutenant&#8217;s employment is pending the outcome of the investigation. Sims works at the Gurney Unit.
