One measure he&#8217;s introduced in the Legislature calls for the Ten Commandments to be posted in what is called a &#8220;prominent location&#8221; in public school classrooms. The bill says school boards cannot block the posting of the commandments, which he calls a non religious educational document.  Flynn says, &#8220;If you walk into the Supreme Court building in the United States capital, first thing you see is the scroll of the Ten Commandments.&#8221; The Ten Commandments has had a rocky life in the courts. But the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005 upheld the posting of the Commandments on the grounds of the state capitol, holding that it is a historical document. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier, we learned Flynn is hoping to implement a two-year moratorium on the STAAR assessment program this legislative session.  Flynn says STAAR causes way to much stress on students, teachers and parents, and he doesn&#8217;t think they need it.  According to Flynn, &#8220;Employers, colleges, technical schools &#8212; nobody has ever asked for a copy of STAAR grades.&#8221;  Flynn introduced the bill as an amendment last year and got a lot of support for it.
