He was 84. Pierce served as judge of the 145th State District Court for 37 years. He died on his birthday, August 30th.<\/p>\n<p>According to the obituary from Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Governor John Connally appointed Jack Pierce to the court in 1963. He was one of the youngest state judges at that time. Upon his retirement in 2001, he was the longest sitting judge in the state of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>A visitation is scheduled at the Nacogdoches County Courthouse on Friday from 4:00 till 8:00pm.
