It happened Monday morning in the 5500 block of the Troup Highway. Killed was David Wayne Bickerdike, 41, of Tyler. Bickerdike was struck by a northbound car driven by Susan Helgesen, 58, of Tyler. Police say Bickerdike was crossing the roadway mid-block on foot and was not in a crosswalk. According to investigators, Helgesen did not see the pedestrian due to darkness and his clothing.
