Starting next month will be John Dees, who comes to TISD from the Grand Prairie school system where he has served as assistant principal since 2007. He started his career in education in 1999 as a second grade teacher, and worked as an art teacher for six years. <\/p>\n<p>He will take over as principal when Freeman Sterling retires at the end of June. Sterling has served as principal at Peete for the past 18 years. <\/p>\n<p>  \u201cI\u2019m excited to join a district, campus, and community that share my vision of high expectations for student success,\u201d Mr. Dees said. He added, \u201cPeete Elementary has a history of strong leadership and academic success. I look forward to building on a solid foundation to ensure that our future is even brighter than our great past.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Dees received his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Master of Education in Educational Leadership at Dallas Baptist University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TYLER \u2013 Tyler school trustees have named a new principal at Peete Elementary.
