The accident happened April 27 around 5:15 a.m. on West Loop 281 and Gilmer Road. Longview Police were told that a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Charles Patrick McClain, Longview, was traveling south on Gilmer Road. McClain stated he did not see the victim, Mary Ruth Burgess Neal, Longview, crossing the roadway. Neal was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center where she remained until her death on May 4.
