Officers spent part of the day Thursday directing traffic in the intersection.  The accident, around 4:20 Thursday morning, initially closed the intersection. A car reportedly struck a westbound traffic signal,  knocking it down into the westbound lanes of traffic. A utility pole supporting lines running east and west across the intersection was sheared off causing the lines to hang low across the roadway.
