That tragic event resulted in 298 deaths and numerous injuries, and prompted the hospital to open a day earlier than planned. According to hospital spokesman John Moore, &#8220;Because of that, we will forever share a kinship with the people of New London and those who were injured and lost.&#8221;  This afternoon, the hospital scheduled a public signing of &#8220;Gone at 3:17,&#8221; a book about the New London event.
