Officials say this system provides the City of Longview with a true Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) solution that directly addresses many of the outstanding issues associated with aging communications technology.  They say the upgrade in technology also allows for the eventual implementation of emerging 9-1-1 functionality such as improved (GIS-based) call routing, text to 9-1-1, the sending and receiving of picture and video messages, and email integration.
