KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision on US-80, east of Windmill Farms Blvd. on July 26, 2026, at around 11:35 p.m. A release from DPS officials reported that a 2013 Hyundai passenger car was disabled in the right lane (eastbound) of US-80, according to a preliminary investigation. The Hyundai was being approached by a truck-tractor semi-trailer that was heading east on US-80. The Hyundai’s rear end was struck by the TTST driver, who was unable to avoid the collision and caused it to cross the bridge’s concrete railing. Two passengers, a 9-year-old and a 14-year-old child, as well as the Hyundai’s driver, Vanecia Deshun Williams, a 38-year-old woman, were declared dead at the scene. The semi trailer’s driver was not reported to have any injuries.
