ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KETK) \u2014 The former city administrator for the City of Hudson has been indicted for alleged abuse of official capacity, city officials said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Rodney McCarty was placed on administrative leave in December 2025 after a unanimous city council voted while the investigation was ongoing. The city said they took \u201cappropriate notice of allegations involving suspected improprieties\u201d when McCarty served as city administrator.<\/p>\n
Those allegations were submitted to the Angelina County Sheriff\u2019s Office, which led to an investigation by the Texas Rangers and referred back to the Angelina County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorruption will not be tolerated in the City of Hudson. Those entrusted by the citizens to use their hard-earned tax dollars wisely must always be held to the highest standards. I demand it and so should every public servant, whether they are elected or appointed,\u201d City of Hudson Mayor Caleb Ramsey said.<\/p>\n
The city said they are cooperating with law enforcement and will not interfere with the proceedings. McCarty\u2019s lawyer in this case, Jim Squyres issued the following statement to KETK News on Thursday:<\/p>\n
\u201cI represent Mr. McCarty on these allegations stemming from his time as City Manager for the City of Hudson. Mr. McCarty is presumed innocent unless he is found to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Mr. McCarty and I look forward to his day in court and providing him with a zealous and vigorous defense.\u201d
