Combs. Kip Semauah Hurt, 26, pled guilty to the crime Tuesday, and was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker. The sentence was handed down in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>According to information presented in court, a Longview gun store was robbed, resulting in the theft of 31 firearms on Aug. 1, 2024. Many of the firearms were recovered by local law enforcement agencies, including the Gregg County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, the Marshall Police Department, and the Longview Police Department. It was determined that one of the recovered firearms had been used in the shooting of a Longview Police officer. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our priority was securing justice for the Longview community and the victims of this robbery, whose business empowered law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights,&#8221; said U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs. &#8220;We have a duty to relentlessly prosecute anyone who threatens innocent lives in East Texas, and today&#8217;s success is a direct result of the exceptional collaboration of our law enforcement partners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ATF is proud to stand alongside our local, state, and federal partners in bringing this offender to justice. This case highlights the cascade effects when criminals obtain firearms. Through strong collaboration and determined investigative work, we were able to hold a violent offender accountable and make our communities safer. We will continue to prioritize cases like this to disrupt criminal activity and protect the public.&#8221; said Special Agent in Charge Brian Garner <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This type of organized criminal behavior will not be tolerated in Longview and the surrounding area,&#8221; said Longview Police Chief Anthony Boone.  &#8220;Local law enforcement in Gregg County will continue working together and will utilize every available state and federal resource to combat crime. We are thankful for the partnership and support of the Eastern District of Texas U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Longview Police Department.
