According to arrest records, in February 2025, the Smith County Sheriff\u2019s Office was investigating over 100 cybertips from the same IP address in Tyler that was allegedly being used to post child pornography on X, formerly known as Twitter. <\/p>\n
Later, in April 2025, the sheriff\u2019s office worked with the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children task force to serve a search warrant at a North Spring Avenue residence where the IP address had been associated with. At the time, several individuals were living at the residence, including Marquis Viramontes, the warrant reads. <\/p>\n
The search warrant resulted in the seizure of three cell phones belonging to Viramontes to be analyzed by investigators and have the contents extracted. <\/p>\n
One year later, the phones were discovered to have several hundred videos and pictures of children ranging from 1 to 17 years old engaging in sexual conduct, according to the arrest warrant. <\/p>\n
Additionally, messages on the social platform Telegram were found between Viramontes and other users looking to buy child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). According to the warrant, Telegram is an end-to-end encrypted messaging platform that is commonly used by individuals to send, receive and sell CSAM. <\/p>\n
Once paid, Viramontes allegedly directed users to download the videos, many of which depicted adults sexually abusing children.
\nSmith County Jail records show Viramontes was arrested on July 14, for one count of possession of child pornography more than or equal to 50 depictions or videos and seven counts of possession or promotion of child pornography more than 50 depictions or videos of sexual assault.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
