NET Health&#8217;s disease surveillance team reported a cyclospora case in Smith County and another in Henderson County in June, according to a statement sent by George Roberts, CEO of the Northeast Public Health District.  Then, according to Roberts, NET Health has been informed of two cases in Gregg County and one in Smith County thus far in July. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to Roberts, the parasite is most frequently linked to tainted food or water. If left untreated, the illness could last anywhere from a few days to more than a month, according to the CDC. Although it can vary from two days to two weeks or longer, the average duration between infection and illness is one week.<\/p>\n<p>People who live or travel in tropical or subtropical parts of the world are more vulnerable. Fresh produce varieties have been connected to outbreaks within the United States.  Cyclospora can infect a person more than once.
