NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK) \u2014 A Nacogdoches elementary school hosted a vigil on Sunday to honor the life of a fifth-grade student who was shot and killed over the Fourth of July weekend.

The vigil for 12-year-old Redarion Davis took place at 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Emeline Carpenter Elementary school parking lot where fellow students, staff, family and friends gathered together to honor his memory.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not easy to hurt. It won\u2019t go away. The pain won\u2019t stop taking place but it lets the family know that the community, his school and friends are there for them and with them,\u201d Zion Hill Baptist Church pastor Donald Lacey said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Davis sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head after being involved in a shooting on the fourth of July and later died from related injuries, the Nacogdoches Police Department confirmed.<\/p>\n
The Nacogdoches Police Department said 19-year-old Zamarion Douglas has since been arrested and charged with injury to a child in connection to the shooting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
