UT Health East Texas released a letter to patients stating that an agreement must be met by Sept. 1 for their services to remain in-network with UHC, which would force those insured by UHC to pay out of pocket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognize the disruption this would create for patients and families across East Texas, and we do not take this situation lightly,\u201d UT Health East Texas said. \u201cIf needed, we will work with patients to ensure a smooth transition of care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As both parties look to reach an agreement, UT Health stated that over 50,000 East Texans currently insured by UHC, including 25,000 seniors, rely on UT Health facilities for medical care and treatment.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"nexstar-minutemedia-player-container\" data-minutemedia-viewport=\"desktop\" data-player-id=\"o5noyx2a\" data-stn-player=\"\" data-s2n-api=\"minuteMediaS2NApi\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur priority remains protecting their access to local physicians, hospitals and services and we will continue working toward a fair agreement that supports the healthcare services East Texans rely on every day,\u201d UT Health East Texas said.<\/p>\n<p>UT Health East Texas patients who are currently pregnant or receiving active treatment may complete a continuity-of-care request to continue receiving in-network coverage if an agreement is not reached with UHC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re concerned about your plan, consult your employer or insurance broker about options that include UT Health East Texas in-network,\u201d UT Health East Texas said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TYLER &#8212; UT Health East Texas patients who rely on UnitedHealthcare (UHC) could soon face higher health care costs if both parties don\u2019t reach a new agreement before their contract expires in less than two months.
