That surpasses the Oscar-winning film <em>Oppenheimer<\/em>, which raked in $975 million globally. <em>Michael<\/em> had already become the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, out-earning the Queen movie <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>&nbsp;\u2014 but now it's tops among all biographical films.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto lrv-a-font-body-m\"><em>Michael&nbsp;<\/em>opened in April with an impressive $217 million globally. As per <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/box-office\/michael-box-office-record-surpasses-oppenheimer-1236797787\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>, it's now become Lionsgate's biggest movie of all time, surpassing 2013's <em>The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,<\/em> which earned $865 million.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto lrv-a-font-body-m\">Lionsgate is reportedly planning on at least one more movie about Jackson's life, since <em>Michael<\/em> ends in 1988.
