TOOL \u2013 East Texans got together for a Save Cedar Creek Lake Town Hall on Sunday to organize against a planned data center that could tap into the lake\u2019s precious water. Organizers with the volunteer-run Save Cedar Creek Lake coalition hosted Sunday\u2019s town hall at the Oran White Civic Center in Tool in order to share their plan for how their going to stop a planned data center from being built near the Key Ranch Estates on Cedar Creek Lake.<\/p>\n
According to our news partner KETK, Local attorney and Cedar Creek Lake property owner Ashley Cook is one of the coalition\u2019s leaders and she\u2019s called on state officials to enact a one-year moratorium on new data centers so that state lawmakers can get a better understanding of their environmental impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to take a lot of people making a whole lot of noise for us to be able to get it across on a state level that this is really important,\u201d Cook said. \u201cWe need people to understand that this is a serious issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cook and the coalition also used Sunday\u2019s town hall to sign up volunteers so they can expand their movement to stop the unwanted data center from tapping into the Cedar Creek Lake water supply.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also going to encourage everybody to go out and recruit 5 to 10 people so that we can really get our grassroots movement going,\u201d Cook said on Sunday. \u201cThe message for today is get up, join. However you can, campaign and join the cause to fight the data center coming into Cedar Creek Lake, that\u2019s what we need.\u201d<\/p>\n
