TYLER \u2013 The University of Texas at Tyler announced on Friday that they\u2019ve offered a \u201cvoluntary separation incentive\u201d or buyout to around a quarter of its total employees. The university told our news partner KETK News that the buyouts are being offered to \u201censure the university remains affordable and prepared for the future while continuing to advance our teaching and research mission.\u201d<\/p>\n
Their \u201cvoluntary separation incentive program\u201d has reportedly been designed to take into account their staff\u2019s \u201cmeaningful contributions and dedicated service.\u201d According to UT Tyler, the buyouts are not expected to impact its course catalog or student services in any way. The UT Tyler faculty directory listed around 1,200 staff as of Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cUT Tyler has offered a voluntary separation incentive program to approximately a quarter of its employees to ensure the university remains affordable and prepared for the future while continuing to advance our teaching and research mission.<\/p>\n
This program is designed to recognize and honor the meaningful contributions and dedicated service of eligible employees and is not expected to impact our course offerings or student services.\u201d
