\"\"ARP – On Friday, the son of a former assistant principal at Arp Elementary entered a guilty plea to luring a 14-year-old girl away from her parents in order to commit a felony. The girl was later impregnated. Blake Florence, 23, and his mother, Karla Florence, who was the assistant principal at Arp Elementary at the time, were detained in late August 2025 on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor and tampering with tangible evidence. Charges of failing to report and giving a false report to a peace officer led to her arrest. <\/p>\n

Blake Florence appeared in the 114th District Court on Friday and entered a guilty plea to injury to a child in exchange for the dismissal of his two charges of child sexual assault. According to court records, he pleaded guilty to luring a child under the age of 14 away from her parents in an attempt to commit a felony. Prior to Florence’s sentencing hearing, Judge Austin Reeve Jackson ordered a presentence investigation. On July 6, he is expected to appear in court for sentencing. Judge Jackson stated in court that if the plea deal is completed, the district attorney’s office will not pursue a charge of tampering with evidence and the two sexual assault indictments will be dropped.<\/p>\n

Blake started dating the 14-year-old girl when he was 19 years old, according to an arrest affidavit. In the summer of 2024, she became pregnant and gave birth. The child told a school staff member in October 2023 that she was upset about getting a positive pregnancy test result. She claimed that Florence was the father and that during her seventh-grade year, they engaged in “consensual sex.” The sexual activity at Florence’s Arp home was discovered by Arp police in July 2025. During the spring and summer of 2025, text messages between Blake Florence and the child were discovered to discuss sex and mention the child’s age as 16.<\/p>\n

According to police, documents also claim that Karla Florence knew about the child’s relationship with her son but neglected to notify any state or law enforcement agency. Karla Florence has not been charged since her arrest, according to records. She has not worked for the district since October 2025, according to Arp ISD.
