ROUND ROCK, Texas (KETK) \u2014 For the first time in school history, the Groveton Centerville Bulldogs are state champions.<\/p>\n
The Centerville baseball team shut out the Gordon Longhorns 2-0 on Saturday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, capturing the 1A state title for the first time in program history.<\/p>\n
Centerville, the visiting team, scored two runs in the top of the first thanks to a two-RBI single to center by Chris Fry to drive in Hardy Brown and Wyatt Clede, putting the \u2018Dogs up 2-0.<\/p>\n
Centerville then turned the ball over to their ace on the mound, Sam Houston State commit Kolt Larsen, and Larsen went the distance, striking out 11 Gordon batters and throwing a complete-game shutout to lift Centerville to the historic state title victory.<\/p>\n
