The Texas Department of Public Safety said law enforcement was called to a single-vehicle crash on rural Henderson County at around 2:06 a.m. According to our news partner KETK, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading west on FM 317 when the truck approached a left-hand curve at an unsafe speed, left the roadway and hit a tree. The driver, 20-year-old Daniel Rivero,  of Athens, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital.
