SMITH COUNTY —\u00a0A 28-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after authorities said he shot his wife while their three children were inside the home. According to the Smith County Sheriff\u2019s Office and our news partner KETK, deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. to a disturbance call in the 9200 block of Cityview Drive.<\/p>\n
Dispatchers were told the suspect, identified as Adrian Lekindreth Scott Jr., was intoxicated and assaulting his wife.<\/p>\n
While deputies were en route, Smith County dispatchers reported hearing gunshots and screaming during the ongoing 911 call. Deputies arrested Scott. Inside the home, deputies found his wife suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and shoulder.<\/p>\n
Deputies began providing lifesaving aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Authorities said one deputy applied pressure to the wounds and placed a tourniquet on the woman\u2019s upper arm before she was transported to the hospital for treatment. She is currently in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Deputies also checked on the three children who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting. According to a Smith County affidavit, the wife alleged that she was holding her infant in bed next to her two other children when the shooting occurred.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the children were not physically injured and are now being cared for by family members. Investigators with the Smith County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the department\u2019s Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene. Officials said evidence indicates Scott used a handgun to shoot his wife.<\/p>\n
She alleged, according to the affidavit, that Scott had been drinking and becomes paranoid when intoxicated, believing his wife was \u201cout to get him.\u201d It also states that Scott attempted to drag his wife out of the house by her shirt after shooting her, but she was able to prevent him.<\/p>\n
Investigators presented probable cause affidavits to Smith County court, and four warrants were issued, charging Scott with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His combined bond was set at $1 million.<\/p>\n
Scott was transported to the Smith County Jail, where he was booked on the warrants. The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
