VAN ZANDT COUNTY – A 20-year-old Van Zandt County man was arrested Feb. 19 after authorities say he fired a gun at a home following a dispute over a 12-pack of soda allegedly thrown at a baby. According to our news partner KETK, deputies responded about 6:05 p.m. to a report of a man shooting at a home and driving around while waving a gun.<\/p>\n
Deputies located the suspect on Highway 19 near Edgewood and conducted a traffic stop as he drove south toward Canton. Officers identified the suspect as 20-year-old Lucas Charles Lewellyn. He was taken into custody without incident.<\/p>\n
In statements to deputies, Lewellyn alleged that the victim had thrown a 12-pack of sodas at a 3-month-old child because he was angry. Lewellyn said he left his grandmother, girlfriend and daughter at a Chicken Express restaurant and went to the victim\u2019s address to confront him. Lewellyn told deputies that when he arrived, a verbal altercation occurred and the victim pointed a gun at him. He said he then retrieved a gun from his vehicle, pointed it at the top of the house, fired one round and fled the scene.<\/p>\n
Lewellyn was booked into the Van Zandt County Detention Center on one charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His total bond was set at $40,000. He was released Feb. 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
