ALTO — City council members will spend the week interviewing potential candidates selected in a Friday meeting for the position of Alto Police Chief. They have identified several candidates they will interview for the position, Mayor Monty Collins said. Collins said he didn’t remember exactly how many candidates they will be interviewing, \u201cbut we whittled them down,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
In the meeting, council members waded through approximately 40 applications filed for the position submitted by hopefuls from everywhere, Councilman Jerry Flowers said. After making a hire, which is slated to occur in a meeting on Thursday, the city will hand over the process of hiring another officer to the new chief.
