The victim is identified as Joe D. Hightower, 49, of Kilgore. The fiery crash occurred Thursday evening around10:00. Investigators say the two vehicles collided near the intersection of South and High Streets. One driver was heading eastbound on South Street and ran into a vehicle turning left onto South Street from High Street. The car making the turn caught fire. Hightower was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials had to extract the other driver from his vehicle. He was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with unknown injuries.
