Until the flooding issue can be resolved and the equipment failures repaired, Tyler Water Utilities is relying entirely on the Golden Road Water Treatment Plant to supply water to the entire City of Tyler.<\/p>\n<p>While GRWTP can typically meet the City&#8217;s daily water needs during this time of year, any large water main break or sudden surge in demand could cause system pressure to fall below safe and acceptable levels.<\/p>\n<p>To help protect the system and maintain reliable service citywide, TWU has activated Stage 2 of the City\u2019s Drought Contingency and Emergency Demand Management Plan. Stage 2 calls for a 10 percent reduction in total daily water use.\u00a0As of Saturday, Oct. 11, these restrictions are still in effect.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The following mandatory water use restrictions\u00a0are now in place for all TWU customers:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Landscape Irrigation\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nAllowed twice weekly<br \/>\nEven-numbered addresses (0, 2, 4, 6, 8): Sundays &amp; Thursdays<br \/>\nOdd-numbered addresses (1, 3, 5, 7, 9): Saturdays &amp; Wednesdays<br \/>\nWatering only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.<br \/>\nEnsure sprinkler systems are adjusted NOT to be\u00a0watering pavement and irrigate only when necessary.<br \/>\nHand watering and drip systems are allowed anytime.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nVehicle Washing<\/strong><br \/>\nPermitted only on watering days, between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m., using a bucket or hose with a shutoff nozzle.<br \/>\nCommercial car washes are exempt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pools\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nFilling or refilling allowed only between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on watering days.<br \/>\nFountains &amp; Ponds<br \/>\nMust have a recirculating system or support aquatic life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fire Hydrants\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nUse limited to firefighting or permitted construction activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Golf Courses<\/strong><br \/>\nGreens, tees, and fairways may be irrigated on watering days,\u00a0before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.<br \/>\nExempt if using non-TWU water.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nRestaurants\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nMay only serve water upon request.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prohibited Non-Essential Uses\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nWashing sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, or buildings (except for fire protection)<br \/>\nUsing water for dust control<br \/>\nAllowing water to run or accumulate in streets or gutters<br \/>\nFailing to repair controllable leaks after notification<\/p>\n<p>Residents and business owners are urged to check for leaking faucets and toilets.<\/p>\n<p>TWU crews are working to identify and fix the source of flooding, restore filter controls, and repair damaged filter underdrains.\u00a0For\u00a0updates and frequently asked questions, The City of Tyler has that information <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoftyler.org\/Home\/Components\/News\/News\/4124\/16\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TYLER &#8211; On Thursday, the Lake Palestine Water Treatment Plant was taken offline due to multiple critical equipment failures and flooding in the filter pipe gallery.
