TYLER \u2013 On Saturday, supporters gathered at the Texas State Capitol, asking lawmakers to stop the execution of Robert Roberson, who was convicted of murder in 2003 for killing his two-year-old daughter, Nikki Curtis. According to our news partner KETK, one Texas lawmaker is also calling for action to stop Roberson\u2019s scheduled execution on Oct. 16.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis man must have a new trial, justice demands it,\u201d State Rep. Brian Harrison of Waxahachie said. <\/p>\n
Harrison made a motion to issue a legislative subpoena in October of 2024 that led to a stay of Roberson\u2019s first scheduled execution. Now, he\u2019s saying this case should be seen in court again.
\nHe said wrong statements and misinformation have also clouded the facts of the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere have been profoundly dishonest and factually wrong statements coming out of the office of the attorney general and countless other swamp politicians,\u201d Harrison said. <\/p>\n
Harrison is also asking for those who support Roberson to call Texas Governor Greg Abbott\u2019s office to ask for a new trial.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a killing that will happen in the name of 30 million Texans,\u201d Harrison said. \u201cIf you\u2019re watching this right now and you have you have discomfort, you\u2019re not comfortable taking a life or having the government take a life on your behalf when there\u2019s never been due process, never been a fair trial, call the governor, email the governor, post about it on social media, demand that justice be served here.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
