LONGVIEW \u2014 Longview ISD Superintendent, Marla Sheppard announced the district\u2019s five-year priorities plan aimed at improving educational experience for future Lobos the first State of the District Luncheon. Our news partner kETK is reporting that the district celebrated their achievements at the first State of the District Luncheon where Sheppard officially announced Elevate 2030. The project lays out five big priorities for the district.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur theme is embracing ACE and that\u2019s achievement, customer service and excellence,\u201d Sheppard said.<\/p>\n
The first two priorities are empowerment through educational excellence and cultivating growth & excellence in staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now have 83% of our schools that are performing at an A or B level,\u201d Sheppard said. \u201cWe have 52 distinctions, up from 40 the year before, so our children are excelling in so many different areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
More school options are also available to parents, so the third goal is connecting with community through service.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe that it is our responsibility to make sure that the community is always aware of what goes on inside of our school buildings. This was our opportunity today to get our community here, so that they could see and hear exactly what their support does for us,\u201d Sheppard said.<\/p>\n
The last two priorities are nurturing joyful wellbeing for students and staff and operational excellence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a gaming program now that\u2019s new and our children are winning in that. They\u2019re winning in athletics. We\u2019re just proud of the fact that our children are winning in every area,\u201d Sheppard said.<\/p>\n
There was also an update to the district\u2019s 2024 school bond elections. The design process is complete for construction projects. Work also continues in the creation of their own police department. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
