LONGVIEW \u2013 State Rep. Talarico, an eighth-generation Texan, is the second major Democrat to enter the Senate primary, joining former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas), who unsuccessfully challenged Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in last year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n
The rally, held at the Longview Community Center, highlighted Talarico\u2019s push to connect with voters in East Texas, a region long considered a Republican stronghold.<\/p>\n
\u201cEast Texas means a lot to me, and I plan on being out in this part of the state a lot during this election, trying to earn the trust and support of these people,\u201d Talarico told attendees. \u201cThis is the first time I\u2019m here, but I plan to be back a lot before election day next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Talarico also spoke about his pledge to combat what he called \u201cbig money corruption\u201d in Washington, saying billionaires \u201ctear us apart on a daily basis.\u201d He emphasized his campaign\u2019s focus on uniting Texans and returning power to working families.<\/p>\n
