FLINT\u2013 The father of the Flint man accused of vandalizing the marble statue of Jesus at St. Mary Magdalene Church explained to officers that his son acted in this way because he is a worshipper of Satan, according to a report from our news partner KETK.<\/p>\n
At around 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 7, Smith County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies discovered that the face and hands of the Jesus statue located at the front of the church had been vandalized. Officials were able to obtain video footage of the incident, which showed around 1:14 a.m. the suspect shattering the hands, wrists and part of the face of the statue. After damaging the statue, the suspect was seen walking south towards County Road 1299.<\/p>\n
On Sept. 9, detectives attempted to lift fingerprints from the statue of Jesus and the flagpole the suspect was seen grabbing, but they were unable to do so due to the coarse material the statue is made from. Detectives also found that the suspect was wearing gloves and that a hammer was used as the weapon. The next day, a detective received an anonymous tip from a citizen that said a man living in the 18500 block of FM 2493, later identified as 36-year-old Jordan Grey Clark, might be the suspect who caused the damage because \u201che was acting strangely.\u201d<\/p>\n
Detectives were then able to locate Clark\u2019s father, who explained that his son has schizophrenia, and refuses to take medication because he says it makes him feel weird. \u201cClark does not have a vehicle currently and does not have a smartphone due to Clark believing all smartphones are possessed, but does have an analog flip phone,\u201d his father explained.<\/p>\n
After officers showed Clark\u2019s father the video of the incident, he was positive that the suspect was his son by the way he was walking and his mannerisms: \u201cI just know the way he walks from being his dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
Clark\u2019s father went on to say that he is \u201cnot surprised\u201d that Clark would act this way, as he is a worshiper of Satan. \u201cSeveral years ago, Clark denounced his Christianity, and over the course of these past few years, it is obvious that Clark is devout in satanic beliefs. He practices a lot of witchcraft.\u201d<\/p>\n
After speaking with Clark\u2019s father, detectives responded to his home, where they attempted to locate him, but were unsuccessful. Officers then searched the shed in the back of the home, where they found a hammer that appeared to have a \u201cwhite glittery powder\u201d on the head and work gloves that could have been used during the vandalism.<\/p>\n
Detectives also found several animal body parts that were nailed to several different posts. \u201cIt appeared that these body parts were then burned while nailed to these posts,\u201d the document said. \u201cIt is believed that this is some type of satanic ritual that Clark was executing while practicing witchcraft.\u201d<\/p>\n
Clark was arrested on Sept. 11 at his home for criminal mischief at a place of worship, and remains in the Smith County Jail with a bond set at $400,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
