According to our news partner KETK, the new order makes it a crime in Texas to market or sell hemp-derived products to minors, restricts the placement of stores and gives police the ability to cancel a store\u2019s license to sell if the rules are not followed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to have a huge impact on law enforcement, especially local and county law enforcement, but, you know, it kind of remains to be seen.\u201d Smith County Sheriff\u2019s Office Sgt. Larry Christian said. <\/p>\n<p>Currently, the new executive order will have law enforcement follow similar procedures and guidelines for other banned products.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we\u2019re looking at enforcement on this, we\u2019re talking about nothing any different than how we would enforce the sale of tobacco or alcohol to a minor to someone under the age of 21,\u201d Christian said. <\/p>\n<p>American Shaman owner Morris Anderson said he believes the order from the governor will be a positive development for the industry and shops like his that sell these products, and hopes it will lead to proper regulation to promote safe use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s good, I think we need to regulate it, I think we definitely need the card,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cEverybody is not playing by the rules. So we\u2019ve got to try to make sure we abide by the laws of the land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s health department and alcoholic beverage commission will be responsible for establishing the new rules. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTABC is working closely with the office of the governor, our colleagues at the Department of State Health Services, and the Department of Public Safety to implement the requirements of Executive Order ga 56,\u201d Director of Communications Chris Porter said. \u201cIn the coming weeks, we will provide additional guidance to stakeholders.
