According to our news partner KETK and a Nacogdoches County arrest affidavit, on July 18, deputies responded to a local hospital where an infant was \u201cunresponsive.\u201d While deputies were speaking to the mother, 20-year-old Jessy Moore of Lufkin, she explained that she was the only person holding the infant all day before they went to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Medical staff told officers that the injury the victim had was new, but he had already been at the hospital just four days before for a head injury. On July 14, the infant was transported to the Texas Children\u2019s Hospital, where he was released because the injury wasn\u2019t severe enough to admit him.<\/p>\n
\u201cMoore was alleging that her almost two-year-old son hit [the infant] in the head with the refrigerator door while Jessy was holding [the infant],\u201d the affidavit said.<\/p>\n
The document said the injuries the victim suffered on July 18 were:<\/p>\n
Bilateral subdural hematomas up to seven millimeters thick along the back portion of the brain, without midline shift
\n Skull fracture to the left side of the upper back area with mild displacement
\n Five-centimeter scalp hematoma on the top of the skull<\/p><\/blockquote>\nThe Texas Children\u2019s Child Abuse Protection (CAP) Team told a Nacogdoches County investigator that this injury \u201cis not one that\u2019s caused by a refrigerator door\u201d but instead \u201cabusive head trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moore was arrested in Anderson County on Aug. 29 for injury to a child with intent to cause serious bodily harm or mental impairment, but was then transferred to the Nacogdoches County Jail on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Records show that Moore has been arrested twice in Angelina County and once in Anderson County for assault, with one of the cases being dismissed on Sept. 18, 2024. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
