According to our news partner KETK, the bond package is designed to address the district\u2019s important needs without increasing the district\u2019s current tax rates. It&#8217;s been broken down into three propositions, with all three focusing on upgrading campus facilities, including renovating the district\u2019s junior high school, improving its tennis complex and updating the football stadium.<\/p>\n<p>    Proposition A ($17.2 million) focuses on renovations to the junior high school and HVAC replacements.<br \/>\n    Proposition B ( $1.975 million) addresses updates to the district\u2019s football stadium.<br \/>\n    Proposition C ($802,256) looks to improve the district\u2019s tennis complex, including its restrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The tax increase would provide the district with over $300 thousand in additional funding to help with increased pay for teachers and staff. The extra funding would also support Spring Hill ISD\u2019s extra-curricular activities and provide the district with new instructional materials.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If the tax rate increase is approved, taxes for the average homeowner in Spring Hill will increase to a little over $60 a year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpring Hill ISD is facing the challenge of rising operational and construction costs due to inflation, while state funding through the basic allotment has seen little to no increase in recent years,\u201d Spring Hill ISD Chief Financial Officer Martin Cobb said. \u201cThis gap strains the district\u2019s ability to maintain competitive salaries, recruit and retain high-quality staff, and provide the programs our students need to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Registered voters within the SHISD boundaries will be eligible to begin voting on Oct.20, and Election Day is scheduled for Nov. 4. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONGVIEW \u2013 The Spring Hill ISD Board of Trustees is asking voters to consider approving a tax rate increase and a $20 million bond proposal for facility maintenance and improvements.
