Saunders Avenue overpass of Highway 31 in Tyler on Saturday, according to a report from our news partner KETK. <\/p>\n<p>Fight The Trump Takeover protests were held all across the country on Saturday in response to the ongoing mid-decade redistricting effort being undertaken by Republicans in Texas. The East Texas organization Indivisible Smith County took part in the protests by hanging banners over Highway 31 in Tyler.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is more than a banner\u2014it\u2019s a line in the sand,\u201d co?president of Indivisible Smith County Stephanie Olson said. \u201cWe cannot let Trump and his allies steal democracy in broad daylight. We\u2019re here to demand fair maps and as the Texas Democratic State Reps are saying, if they want our democracy, \u2018Come and take it!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the regime attacks democracy, we have a duty to fight back,\u201d event coordinator, Scottie Rasberry said. \u201cThis event is sending a message to the GOP and ALL Americans: Texas progressives will NOT sit down and play nice; we\u2019re going to fight to protect our right to representation.
