{"id":1428812,"date":"2025-07-23T11:25:29","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T16:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/?p=1428812"},"modified":"2025-07-25T03:23:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T08:23:49","slug":"east-texas-schools-boost-teacher-pay-after-house-bill-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/?p=1428812","title":{"rendered":"East Texas schools boost teacher pay after House Bill 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-23-112243-e1753287853878-200x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1428813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-23-112243-e1753287853878-200x200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-23-112243-e1753287853878-350x350.jpg 350w, https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-23-112243-e1753287853878.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>TYLER &#8211;  Following the passing of House Bill 2, which provides public schools in Texas with additional funds and resources, our news partner KETK reports that several school districts across East Texas have permitted raises for their teachers.<\/p>\n<p>During a meeting on Monday, the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2025-2026 Budget and Compensation Structure, which will increase the salary for all Tyler ISD teachers and provide them with a substantial raise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly appreciative that the Legislature was able to get House Bill 2 across the finish line,\u201d Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. \u201cThis means a $2,500 or even $5,000 raise for many of our teachers in Tyler ISD, which is a major step forward in valuing their work and commitment.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tyler ISD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the new plan:<\/p>\n<p>The starting salary for certified teachers will increase by $1,500 to $52,000.<br \/>\nTeachers with 1 year of experience, though not funded by HB 2, will receive a $1,500 raise.<br \/>\nTeachers with 2 years of experience, though not funded by HB 2 or included in the previous pay scale increases, will receive a $1,000 raise.<br \/>\nTeachers with 3-4 years of experience will receive a $2,500 raise, funded through HB 2.<br \/>\nTeachers with 5+ years of experience will see a $5,000 raise, funded through HB 2.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nLongview ISD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before the new school year begins, Longview ISD announced a new compensation plan that increases the salaries of its teachers, staff, administration, and hourly employees. The plan was approved after it was previously announced in June that the minimum teacher salary will be set at $55,000.<\/p>\n<p>In compliance with the new plan:<\/p>\n<p>Librarians and registered nurses will receive a  $1,500 raise<br \/>\nHourly support staff will receive a 3 percent pay increase<br \/>\nAdministrative professionals receive 2 percent pay bumps<\/p>\n<p>Shalona McCray, the district\u2019s chief human resource officer, stated that the new compensation plan aims to help retain talented teachers while rewarding staff members for their hard work throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to stay competitive in recruiting and retaining our best people,\u201d McCray said. \u201cThese targeted increases, layered on across all roles, reflect our commitment to fairness and to honoring the work happening in classrooms, libraries, nurses\u2019 offices, and every support role.\u201d<br \/>\nEdgewood ISD<\/p>\n<p>During the Edgewood Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, it was announced that district employees will receive a pay raise for the upcoming school year in accordance with House Bill 2.<\/p>\n<p>The district stated that teachers with five or more years of service will receive an $8,000 raise, while teachers with three or four years of service will receive a $4,000 raise. Additionally, all employees will now be eligible for pay raises of nine to ten percent.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nWinnsboro ISD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During a board meeting held on Monday night, the school board approved an increase for Winnsboro ISD teacher and staff salaries in accordance with House Bill 2.<\/p>\n<p>The district stated that teachers with five or more years of service will receive an $8,000 raise, while teachers with three or four years of service will receive a $4,000 raise.
