Dean currently represents Gregg, Harrison, and Marion counties and is in his fifth term as a state representative. He is also the current Chairman of the House Insurance Committee. U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Gov. Greg Abbott have both endorsed Dean for his upcoming reelection campaign.<\/p>\n
During his reelection announcement, Dean emphasized how East Texas needs somebody in Austin who understands their values and way of life.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe achieved real results this legislative session, and I look forward to building on our success.\u201d Dean said. \u201cEast Texas deserves a strong voice in Austin, someone who understands our values, listens to our communities, and gets things done.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his tenure, Dean\u2019s legislative accomplishments include providing East Texas families with $51 billion in property tax relief and passing nearly a dozen bills to prevent foreign control of Texas aquifers and protect rural water access.<\/p>\n
Dean also passed several bills that benefited rural communities in East Texas, including House Bill 2529, which ensured fair pay for small county judges. He also passed House Bill 2522, which cuts red tape for rural businesses.<\/p>\n
Dean has lived in East Texas for the past two decades and first began serving Texas as Longview City Councilman before eventually becoming the Mayor of Longview, where he helped lead the city to be named one of Forbes Magazine\u2019s \u201cBest Places for Business.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dean emphasized why he is running for reelection and what his main focuses would be if he is reelected.<\/p>\n
