LONGVIEW\u00a0 — Longview Police arrested a 25-year-old Longview ISD employee on Tuesday for sexual assault of a child. The police department said officers were dispatched to a residence on Saturday at around 3:49 p.m. in reference to a sexual assault. According to our news partner KETK, officials said during the course of the investigation, officers learned that a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by D\u2019Marjai Dearion, of Longview.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Longview detectives obtained a warrant and Darion was arrested the same day for sexual assault of a child. He is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Gregg County Jail.<\/p>\n
Longview ISD said Dearion was employed as a physical education teacher and coach since August 2023. He served at Judson Middle School during the 2023-2024 school year and at East Texas Montessori Prep Academy and Forest Park Middle School during the 2024\u20132025 school year. When allegations against Dearion were brought to the district\u2019s attention on Monday, he was immediately removed from campus, the school district said. He was put in administrative leave pending the investigation, however, Dearion submitted his resignation following his arrest on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cLongview ISD is cooperating fully with the Longview Police Department\u2019s ongoing investigation and expresses gratitude for their assistance,\u201d district officials said. \u201cThe district has also reported this incident to the Texas Education Agency as required by state law.\u201d<\/p>\n
Longview ISD said the safety of their students, employees and campuses is their highest priority.<\/p>\n
