Ndetan is the second faculty member to be selected for this<br \/>\nrecognition in UT Tyler history.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Every year, the foundation selects 10 faculty members across Texas who have demonstrated a<br \/>\ndedication to effective teaching and scholarly excellence.<br \/>\nThe Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation is a non-profit, charitable corporation focused on supporting<br \/>\npostsecondary education through contributing to the education of students, assisting Texas<br \/>\nresidents in completing their degree and supporting other nonprofits. The Piper Professor program<br \/>\nbegan in 1958 to recognize outstanding professors from colleges and universities.<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I am profoundly grateful for this recognition and humbled to join the distinguished ranks of the<br \/>\nPiper Professor program,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Ndetan. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It is a privilege to work alongside such talented colleagues<br \/>\nand within such an outstanding educational community here at UT Tyler. I remain committed to<br \/>\nadvancing our mission and promoting excellence in health education, research and service to our<br \/>\ncommunity.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\nNdetan was also recently recognized as a Fellow of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, White<br \/>\nFellowship awardee for Teaching Excellence, Distinguished Teaching Professor and a UT Tyler<br \/>\nOutstanding Leadership awardee.
